Background

Manager Foundations Program: A Comprehensive Overview Using the ADDIE Model

Discovering the Need: Analysis

In 2021, our company embarked on a new journey after a significant organizational shift. We faced a practical challenge: our managers were skilled in their functions but lacked consistent management skills, leading to turnover and varied experiences. This led to the inception of the "Manager Foundations" program, aimed at developing clear, measurable competencies for successful management.

Crafting the Framework: Design

Responding to this need, we created the "Let's F'ing Grow" curriculum, central to which was the "Manager Foundations" program. This program was designed to provide managers with the skills and knowledge needed to excel both in their functional roles and as leaders within our evolving company.

Building the Content: Development

The development phase involved a hands-on approach. We gathered relevant data and feedback, translating these into a curriculum that resonated with our managers' real-world challenges. The e-learning modules were designed to provide a solid knowledge base, setting the groundwork for the more interactive and engaging workshops.

Rolling Out the Program: Implementation

When it came time to implement, we adapted to our distributed workforce by conducting virtual workshops. These sessions were interactive and designed to be as engaging as possible, ensuring that participants remained connected and involved. Supplemental tools like token keychains and a podcast series were introduced to reinforce the learning and encourage ongoing development.

Measuring Success: Evaluation

The evaluation phase revealed the program's impact: we saw over a 20% improvement in key manager engagement and effectiveness metrics, a significant achievement compared to pre-program surveys. This improvement was a clear indicator of the program's effectiveness in enhancing managerial skills and leadership within the organization.

My Role: Leading the Charge

Throughout this process, my role was comprehensive and hands-on. I led the charge in branding, instructional design, eLearning development, and media creation. I was also responsible for training facilitators, managing communications, and conducting engagement and follow-up surveys. This program was a significant undertaking, built from scratch, and stands as a testament to my commitment to improving our management culture.
